TYPICAL USAGE

Flupirtine is used as an analgesic for acute and chronic pain, in moderate to severe cases, as a muscle relaxant used for back pain, migraines.

SIDE EFFECTS

Dizziness, heartburn, nausea / vomiting, gastric disorders, constipation, disturbed sleep, outbreak of sweat, lack of appetite, depression, tremor, headache, abdominal pain, dryness of the mouth, restlessness / nervousness, flatulence, diarrhoea, Confusion, visual disturbances and allergic reactions, in isolated cases with a raised body temperature, manifested themselves in symptoms such as rash, urticaria and itching.

DRUG INTERACTION

Flupirtine is known to interact with other drugs like warfarin, benzodiazepines. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Flupirtine is a selective neuronal potassium channel opener that also has NMDA receptor antagonist properties and helps in releiving pain.
