TYPICAL USAGE

Acute nausea and vomiting, acute panic attacks, all forms of epilepsy, anxiety, anxiety associated with obsessional states, anxiety associated with phobic states, convulsions, insomnia, myoclonus, pre-operative anxiety.

SIDE EFFECTS

Ataxia, CNS depression, dysarthria, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, nausea, blurred vision, confusion.

DRUG INTERACTION

Lorazepam is known to interact with other drugs like alcohol, clarithromycin, lofepramine (HCl), loxapine, pemoline, pyrimethamine, silymarin. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Lorazepam binds to an allosteric site on GABA-A receptors, which are pentameric ionotropic receptors in the CNS. Binding potentiates the effects of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, which upon binding opens the chloride channel in the receptor, allowing chloride influx and causing hyperpolerization of the neuron.

Can I take Anxipose (0.5mg) during pregnancy?

Experiences of drug use and evidence from studies in pregnant women have shown risk to fetus. This drug may be used in pregnant women if benefit outweighs the risk. Patients should follow the advice of the doctor regarding its use.

Can I take Anxipose (0.5mg) while breastfeeding/lactation?

Possibly unsafe: Evidence from studies in breastfeeding women show that there is a definite risk of side effects to the breastfed infants. However, use of the drug in breastfeeding women is acceptable in spite of the risk to the infants, if the drug is needed in a life-threatening situation or for a serious disease for which safer drugs cannot be used or are ineffective. Patients should follow the advice of the doctor regarding its use.
